Jenny Jisun Kang

Head of Industry Groups

Jenny is the Head of Industry Groups at the Australia-Korea Business Council (AKBC), where she leads initiatives to strengthen collaboration across six key sectors: energy, critical minerals, education, defence and space, food and agriculture, and financial services. In this role, she works closely with industry leaders, government stakeholders and research institutions to facilitate partnerships, promote investment opportunities and deepen economic cooperation between Australia and Korea.

Jenny plays a key role in delivering AKBC’s industry engagement projects, including industry group roundtables and sector-focused dialogues that bring together senior representatives from government and industry in both countries. She also supports AKBC members by providing market insights, facilitating connections with Korean stakeholders, and helping companies navigate cultural and market-entry considerations to strengthen their engagement with Korea.

Before joining AKBC, Jenny spent over a decade at KOTRA Melbourne (Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), where she managed research and marketing initiatives to strengthen business ties between Korean SMEs and Australian companies. She produced in-depth reports and articles on the Australia–Korea economic relationship, analysing market trends, regulatory environments and emerging industry opportunities. Her work was recognised by KOTRA headquarters in Seoul, where she received the Best Article of the Year and Best Researcher of the Year awards for two consecutive years.

Jenny holds a Bachelor’s degree in Korean Language and Media Communication from Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul and a Master’s degree in International Business from Monash University.
