Thank you to everyone who joined us at the AKBC Financial Services and Investment Forum in Sydney! 🇦🇺🇰🇷

On Tuesday, 21 October, the Australia–Korea Business Council (AKBC) hosted the AKBC Financial Services and Investment Forum at the Sydney office of AKBC member, Ashurst.

The Forum brought together a senior delegation from Korea arranged by the Korea Financial Investment Association (KOFIA) consisting of 13 CEOs from key Korean Financial Services companies alongside senior representatives from Australia’s top financial services and advisory firms for a high-level discussions on new energy, real estate, infrastructure, cloud and data centres, and emerging sectors.

Australia and Korea share a strong and growing investment relationship. Korea’s securities firms play a key role to Korea’s deep pools of institutional capital—such as the National Pension Service (NPS) and major insurers—which are increasingly seeking long-term investment opportunities. With Australia offering a stable investment environment, there is significant potential to attract strategic capital into priority sectors including renewable energy, infrastructure and advanced manufacturing. Yesterday's forum served as a valuable platform to strengthen connections between key players in the Australian and Korean financial services sector, paving the way for deeper bilateral cooperation and the development of innovative financial partnerships that support both nations’ economic resilience and growth.

We were honoured to have in attendance Mr Yoo-Seok Seo, Chairman of KOFIA, Mr Kyung Shik Shin, Office Managing Partner, Ashurst Korea JV, Mr. Yong-jun Choi, Consul-General of the Republic of Korea (NSW) and Hon. Matt Kean, Head of Fundraising and Directory Regulatory Affairs & Strategic Partnerships, Wollemi Capital and Former Treasurer and Energy Minister in NSW.

A special thank you to all the AKBC Members and the AKBC Financial Services Industry Group members for bringing valuable insights and contributing to a successful event.
