The 2023 Korea Session: Part of IMARC took place in Sydney on the 31st October 2023. It was a well-attended event focusing on opportunities and challenges for Australian and Korean businesses, specifically in critical minerals and hydrogen.

The Australia-Korea Business Council (AKBC) hosted an exclusive Korea Session at the renowned ICC Sydney. This session explored vital topics: an overview of critical minerals and hydrogen opportunities between Australia and Korea, Korea's strategy for a stable supply chain of critical minerals, and the potential of clean ammonia in Korea's energy sector. The collaboration between Australia and Korea is key to ensuring a sustainable critical minerals supply chain for long-term stability and sustainability. This event was a prime platform for industry investors and visionaries, providing a unique opportunity to navigate the ever-changing mining and resources landscape.

Louise Clunies-Ross, Executive Director, AKBC opened the Session by welcoming our keynote speakers. The Session then began with Opening Remarks by Peter Cleary, Director, Chair of the AKBC Energy sub-committee, Australia-Korea Business Council and presentations by Paul Yoo, Director, Head of Korea Desk at PwC Australia on an Overview of the Australia-Korea Opportunities in Critical Minerals and Hydrogen; Bongman Ko, Managing Director, KOMIR Australia on Critical Minerals Strategy of KoreaBrad Lingo, Chairman, Pilot Energy on Leading the Energy Transition through Supplying Low Cost, Clean Ammonia to KoreaAlvin D’Almaida, Manager, Resources and Energy at Austrade on Reliable, responsible and ready for the future – Australia’s Critical Minerals Opportunity. Rounding out the event was closing remarks by Louise summarising our key topics of critical minerals and hydrogen and thanking all attendees and speakers.
