South Korea sees new record of seaweed exports

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced South Korea’s seaweed (gim) export reached 1 trillion won (US$763 million) in 2023. The export of gim has grown by 8% annually on average over the past decade. Its export destinations were expanded from 64 in 2010 to 124 countries last year. By 2027, the South Korean government plans to achieve 1.3 trillion won (US$1 billion) in seaweed exports.
