Korea and Australia have agreed to strengthen cooperation to ensure stable supplies of diesel and other energy resources amid ongoing global supply disruptions linked to the Middle East crisis.
The commitment was outlined in a joint statement released ahead of talks in Seoul between Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun and Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, reflecting shared concerns over the impact of regional instability on energy, resources and key commodities.
Australia and Korea reaffirmed their commitment "to working together to strengthen energy resource security, including efforts to maintain a stable, secure and reliable supply of diesel and other liquid fuels, energy resource commodities, including liquefied natural gas (LNG) and condensate."
π‘ Why this matters:
πΉ Reinforces the strategic importance of the AustraliaβKorea energy partnership.
πΉ Australia is Korea's largest LNG supplier and one of its key suppliers of condensate and critical minerals, while Korea is one of Australia's major suppliers of diesel and a key supplier of refined petroleum products.
