James Rhee is a proud West Australian engineer with a deep Korean heritage.
Over two decades, James has been a major project developer in the resource and construction sectors - with a particular interest in renewable energy. His 2010 design and construction of Australia’s first hybrid renewable energy system for a major mine site won national and international awards. His design combined solar, wind and battery energy storage to deliver renewable energy for mining operations.
He was one of the founding executives of the joint venture between WA biggest private company BGC Australia and Korean Company POSCO E&C for the “Roy Hill” Iron Ore project (US$5.8Bil) and the Perth Westin Hotel (A$350mil) development.
Combining his passion for sustainability with his project development capability, technical knowledge and strong WA industry relationships, James now leads “Progressive Green Solutions”. This business is involved in major Renewable Energy generation & storage development and green hydrogen-based green iron production in Mid-West, WA.
James maintains a very strong social connection with Australia’s Korean Community. Most recently, he served as Deputy Chairman and Fundraising Chair of the Perth Korean War Memorial Committee, raising $2.2M for the new Korean War memorial and outdoor Amphitheatre, inaugurated in Perth’s Kings Park in July 2023.
