Marco Salvio


Marco Salvio is the Assistant Secretary of the Northeast Asia Branch in the Geostrategy and Partnerships Division at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Based in Canberra, he is responsible for advancing Australia’s bilateral relationships with the Republic of Korea and Japan.

Prior to this position, Marco worked in the Executive Division of DFAT and Cabinet Division of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet supporting the National Cabinet’s response to COVID-19.

Marco speaks fluent Japanese and Italian. He holds a Master of Arts (International Relations) from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours Asian Studies) from the University of Queensland.
