On 30 October, the AKBC team had a great conversation with Minha Song, Investment Director and Lucia Lee, Business Analyst at POSCO Australia in Sydney last week. We shared valuable feedback about the recent 45th AKBC-KABC Joint Meeting in Perth.

POSCO Group is making significant strides in enhancing cooperation with Australia. As a vital partner in the supply chain for critical minerals like iron ore, lithium, and nickel, POSCO has made cumulative investments of up to 4 trillion won (approximately $4.4 billion) in Australia. Remarkably, Korea is purchasing steel materials worth more than 7 billion dollars from Australia every year, which amounts to 70% of the total amount of raw material purchases.

POSCO also revealed its plans to initiate discussions with local companies on critical minerals, including graphite and rare earths during the Joint Meeting. This is a promising step forward in strengthening our economic ties and ensuring a sustainable supply chain.
