BTS becomes the first Korean artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 Chart

On August 31, BTS became the first South Korean artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with their new single ‘Dynamite.’ Korea’s highest record prior to BTS was No. 2 with Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ back in 2012. The music video for ‘Dynamite’ broke several records:

– the most views on YouTube within 24 hours of being released (101 million views);
– 7.788 million streams within 24 hours, becoming Spotify’s biggest debut of 2020; and
– the fastest song to top over 100 iTunes charts worldwide.

In addition, BTS gave their first performance at the MTV Video Music Awards and were awarded best pop music video, best choreography, best group and best K-pop group.
