Join the Australia-Korea Business Council (AKBC) as we welcome Australia’s Chief Defence Scientist Tanya Monro on Wednesday 8 September in the latest Korea Konversations.

Korea Konversations is a new initiative in 2021, which celebrates the 60 years of diplomatic relations between Australia and Korea by inviting a mix of Australian and Korean high profile senior executives who have contributed greatly to the relationship or represent sectors of importance to the future of the Australia-Korea relationship, to speak to our members.

Episode 7 with Professor Tanya Monro, Chief Defence Scientist, Department of Defence, will provide a unique opportunity to learn more about the exciting Australian  defence science and technology relationship with Korea and opportunities for future growth. Professor Monro will emphasise the role that science, technology, innovation and industry capability play in the bilateral relationship and our security interests in the Indo-Pacific.

Professor Tanya Monro commenced as Chief Defence Scientist in March 2019.

Professor Monro was previously Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and Innovation and an ARC Georgina Sweet Laureate Fellow at the University of South Australia.

Professor Monro was the inaugural Director of the Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS) from 2008 to 2014 and was also the inaugural Director for the ARC Centre of Excellence for Nanoscale Bio Photonics (CNBP) at the University of Adelaide. Her research is in the field of photonics, with a focus on sensing, lasers and new classes of optical fibres.
