Korea Konverations – Enrico Palermo
Enrico Palermo, Head, Australian Space Agency
Join the Australia-Korea Business Council (AKBC) as we welcome Enrico Palermo, Head of Australian Space Agency on Thursday 23 September in the latest Korea Konversations.
Korea Konversations is a new initiative in 2021, which celebrates the 60 years of diplomatic relations between Australia and Korea by inviting a mix of Australian and Korean high profile senior executives who have contributed greatly to the relationship or represent sectors of importance to the future of the Australia-Korea relationship, to speak to our members.
Episode 8 with Mr Palermo will provide a unique opportunity to learn more about Australia’s national agency responsible for the development of Australia’s commercial space industry, coordinating domestic activities, identifying opportunities and facilitating international space engagement that include Australian stakeholders. Mr Palermo will talk about our existing and future partnerships with the Republic of Korea, who are looking to boost their space program for national security purposes. Korea has set its sights on building its own satellite navigation systems, a 6G communications satellite network and a mission to the moon by 2030. The Korean space industry is led by Hanwha SpaceHub, Korea Aerospace Industries, LIG Nex1 and Hancom.
The space industry is of utmost importance to national security and bilateral collaboration between Korean and Australia is key to leveraging our strengths and remaining at the cutting edge of technological developments. Both Australia and Korea are signatories of the Artemis Accords, which establishes a practical set of principles to guide space exploration cooperation among nations participating in NASA’s 21st century lunar exploration plans. Australian has partnerships with Korean firms. Join us on 23 September to learn more about these partnerships.
