Australia-Korea Education Forum

The Australia-Korea Business Council is proud to host the Australia-Korea Education Forum on Friday 20 November, from 2.00pm – 4.00pm AEDT | 12.00pm-2.00pm KST via Zoom. The forum comprises two sessions: student mobility and recruitment and furthering research collaborations.

Australia and Korea share a proud history in the education and research sector. Korea represents the 8th largest market for international students in Australia with 22,282 students enrolled as of August 2020. Nearly half of all Korean students were studying in NSW.

As Australia looks to reopen its borders, with the first pilot entry of international students arriving in Darwin at the end of November, Australian educational institutions are well positioned to promote Australia’s strength in handling the COVID-19 pandemic and quality education services to capture a larger market share of international students.

Korea is a global leader in science and innovation, and consistently ranks among the top nations listed in Bloomberg’s Most Innovative Nation rankings. Further, several Korean universities also consistently rank in the top 100 of the Reuters World’s Most Innovative Universities, a ranking in which no Australian university has been able to enter in recent years. Increasing Australia’s international connectedness and deepening our international engagement in research is key to the ensuring our research remains relevant and advances social and economic goals.

We invite you to join us for a discussion on how Australian education institutions can better promote our educational services to Korean students and how we can build deeper research partnerships with Korean institutions to jointly solve the problems of tomorrow.
