Samsung – the world’s #1 smartphone brand

Samsung Electronics has reclaimed its number one position in the global smartphone market according to an August report by Counterpoint Research.

Samsung accounts for 22% of the global smartphone market followed by Huawei and Apple’s respective market shares of 16% and 12%.

In April, Huawei claimed the top position before COVID-19 lockdowns and US sanctions impacted the company.

Regarding the current market, Counterpoint Research analyst Kang Min-soo said ”for Samsung, it will be a good opportunity to raise its smartphone market share, especially in Europe, where the company has been competing fiercely with Huawei in various price bands.”

Samsung’s growing presence in India, the second-largest smartphone market in the world, was crucial to its ability to recapture market share.
