04 Jun Australia’s Technology Investment Roadmap discussion paper is open for public consultation
The Australian Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources is seeking public consultation for their Technology Investment Roadmap discussion paper. The roadmap identifies new and developing technologies that have the potential to reduce emissions while strengthening the Australian economy and creating jobs.
Hydrogen is identified as one of the “key technology opportunities” for Australia. The government is seeking stakeholder advice and expertise to achieve the priority economic goal of producing hydrogen for under $2 per kilogram – a price that makes hydrogen a competitive energy carrier. Once a domestic industry has been established, Australia aims to scale up hydrogen production to meet international demand including from Korea, whose transition to a hydrogen economy will provide numerous opportunities for collaboration with Australia.
Submissions are open until 21 June 2020.
The roadmap and submission box are available here.
